What Is Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA)

Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA) is a non-invasive test that measures the levels and ratios of essential and toxic minerals in hair samples. This analysis provides valuable insights into your nutritional status, metabolism, thyroid function, adrenal function and potential exposure to heavy metals.

HTMA is an effective method for detecting heavy metal exposure, as hair can retain higher concentrations of these metals compared to blood or urine. Elevated levels of heavy metals like lead, mercury, or arsenic in hair may indicate recent or chronic exposure, which can be detrimental to health.

Minerals are essential nutrients that support various bodily functions, including:

  • Bone Health: Calcium and phosphorus are vital for maintaining strong bones and teeth.

  • Muscle Function: Potassium and magnesium play crucial roles in muscle contraction and relaxation.

  • Nervous System: Sodium and potassium are involved in nerve impulse transmission.

  • Oxygen Transport: Iron is a key component of hemoglobin, facilitating oxygen transport in the blood.

Many symptoms are associated with mineral and vitamin deficiencies and/or excess, such as:

  • Headaches

  • Allergies

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Weakness

  • Arthritis

  • Fatigue

  • High blood pressure and many more
